Is it safe to vape expired juice?

Some vape juice's come with expiration dates. Others come with a date of creation. Most, however, come with no dates. How is one to know if it is safe to vape older juice?

First, we suggest checking the following:

1. Is the vape juice very dark and thin? That means the elements are pretty oxidized. We highly recommend you dispose of that juice.
2. Is the vape juice zero nicotine level? If so, the juice is probably safe to vape for five years and even more. VG and PG are preservatives, so they last a long time. Again, check the color. It should be almost clear or golden.
3. Does the juice taste "funny" when you vape it? Like with most consumables, if it tastes funny when you vape it, it's either bad juice or your setup is messed up. Might be burned cotton or bad coils, too.
4. Is it expired? If the expiration date is past, the juice may still be OK to vape. We've tried some that were bottled back in 2013 and they are just fine. Some vape juices get better with age (as long as they are not oxidized).
5. Was the juice open or exposed to sunlight over a long time? The more oxygen and light that gets to your liquid, the faster it will oxidize and lose flavor. Nicotine will also break down.

Usually, as long as the juice has been sealed and not overly exposed to sunlight, it will be fine to vape, no matter how long ago it was created. Some bottles are opaque. Blocking light extends the life of your vape juice. If the bottle is clear, you can tell by the color if it is still good vape juice.
